SUMMARY:Assessment Redesign Sprint: Accessibility and Universal Design for Learning
DESCRIPTION:We are offering two Assessment Redesign Sprints in May/June.
This registration page is for the Accessibility and Universal Design for
Learning Sprint. If you are interested in the Artificial Intelligence
Sprint\, please visit the Artificial Intelligence Sprint registration
page.\n\n \n\nStudents come to our courses with a wide range of strengths\,
needs\, and ways of showing what they know. This workshop gives you
dedicated time\, practical tools\, and the support of colleagues to take a
closer look at one of your existing assessments and begin reimagining it
with accessibility and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles in
mind. \n\nOver the course of the workshop\, you'll critically examine an
assessment you're already using\, identify where it may be creating
unintentional barriers\, and begin redesigning it to offer students more
flexible and equitable ways to demonstrate their learning. We will pay
particular attention to the ways assessment design choices\, including
 format\, timing\, instructions\, and grading criteria\, may affect students
with disabilities. \n\nAbout Assessment Design Sprints\n\nThese sessions
offer instructors concentrated time to rethink the design of their
assessments in relation to a specific area of focus. While the session will
be guided by principles of learning-centered assessment design\, we will
not be focusing on foundational assessment design principles during the
workshop. The session is structured to balance facilitated discussions with
hands-on assignment design time and collaborative problem solving.
\n\nNote: If you have a @guelphhumber.ca email address and are unable to
register\, please contact the Office of Teaching and Learning
(otl@uoguelph.ca) with the name of the program you’d like to register
for\, and we will complete the registration on your behalf.
