This workshop introducing University of Guelph, the University of Guelph-Humber and Ridgetown instructors to FeedbackFruits' Peer Review and Group Member Evaluation tools will be hosted by Samuele Ceppi, FeedbackFruits Implementation Manager (North America). He will be joined by OTL's instructional technology specialists, Owen Wooding & Rachael Lewitzky, along with and CCS' Courseware Architect, Rich Couto to provide answers for any questions that are specific to our institution.

FeedbackFruits is the latest centrally supported educational technology adopted by the University of Guelph. This learning system fully integrates with CourseLink to expand functionality and provide several activity types to assist with feedback, assessment, collaboration, and engagement. Two of those options - Peer Review and Group Member Evaluation, will replace similar options that are currently offered through PEAR, which will be officially decommissioned  at the end of the fall 2026 semester.

FeedbackFruits' Peer Review

With the Peer Review tool, students give and receive actionable feedback on each other’s work based on a rubric or scales. The peer review process can be fully anonymous, to reduce bias and encourage candour. Students can submit in multiple file formats, including documents, images, audio, and video, ensuring flexibility for different types of assignments. Throughout the process, the AI Feedback Coach option, if enabled, guides students to make their comments more clear, specific, and constructive before submission. The result is higher‑quality, unbiased feedback that strengthens feedback literacy and supports better revisions, all aligned to clear rubric criteria for scalable formative assessment.

FeedbackFruits' Group Member Evaluation

With the Group Member Evaluation tool, students assess each group member’s contribution and collaboration within the group. Like Peer Review, it offers anonymity so students do not see each other’s identities, promoting fairness and honest reflection.  Instructors have the option to use the AI Feedback Coach if they choose to help write balanced, evidence‑based comments. Additionally, Group Contribution Grading enables grade individualization within a shared group outcome: individual grades can be adjusted based on peer‑assessed contribution. This helps produce fair recognition of effort and impact, greater accountability within teams, and clear insights for improving future collaboration.
