Effective Lesson Planning for TAs: Strategies for Labs and Seminars Online
Have you ever attended a seminar, tutorial or lab and felt unsure about how to structure your lesson for the day? This workshop will equip you with essential skills to design and deliver organized, engaging, and effective lessons for your students. You will be introduced to the BOPPPS lesson planning model, which is a framework that helps align learning outcomes, assessments, and classroom activities. Through applying this framework, you will learn how to make the most of your class time while enhancing student learning and engagement.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this workshop, participants should be able to:
- Describe the concept of constructive alignment and apply it to connect learning outcomes, assessments, and classroom activities for an individual lesson
- Identify and implement the six aspects of the BOPPPS lesson planning model to structure an effective lesson
- Confidently prepare a lesson plan to implement in a lab, seminar, or tutorial setting
